46 Weeks Until Symposium 2020

The countdown to Symposium 2020 continues, and this week we continue our Admiral Profiles with the new leader of the Ohio Fleet . . . Admiral Walsingham!

Admiral Walsingham of the Ohio Fleet

Ahoy, Ahoy! Greetings all! Allow me a moment to introduce myself. I am Sir Matthias S. Walsingham (Maddie Smith) and I have the distinct pleasure of being the captain of the Red & White Star Line flagship, the HMA Queen Elizabeth XV — often referred to as the QEXV — the most luxurious and well-armed liner of the skies!

I, along with several other actors from the Ohio Renaissance Festival, decided to start our own airship back in 2015, although I have been interested in Steampunk for much longer. Back in the 1990s, I was making Steampunkesque creations before I even knew what Steampunk was. Now I am an avid maker, creating many things from historic to fantasy for Steampunk, Renaissance, and more.

The QEXV airship holds monthly get-togethers in Dayton, Ohio for gentile socializing and the exchange of ideas. Our first officer Zattana and I organize the Ye Olde Yellow Cabaret events which were bestowed upon us from the lovely and unforgettable Simerlinks. The QEXV is also planning a Steampunk Picnic, that we will be announcing soon, and a formal ball later this year. There is so much going on, so much to do! If you are interested in any of the above and more, just click one of the following links: HMA Queen Elizabeth XV, Ye Olde Yellow Cabaret, Gem City Steampunks.

And now, I have been bestowed the title and great honor of Admiral of Ohio. I call all of the Airships of Ohio to rise up and unite! Individually, we are already strong. But together, together as the Ohioan Fleet, we will truly be an impressive force to be reckoned with. I also call out to all individual Ohio Steampunks — those who are not affiliated with an airship — for you are all wanted and welcome! We are Ohioans, we are inventors, we are innovators, we are explorers, we are pioneers, and we shall be victors!

God save the Queen and long live the Ohioan Fleet!

Signed by my hand in good faith and intent,

Admiral M. S. Walsingham
