The ‘Real McCoy’; Steam Trains, The Underground Railroad and Moonshine!
Presented at Symposium 2019 by Baba Teddy
If any one could be said to represent ‘Steam’ or ‘Punk’ it would be Elijah McCoy who visited Cincinnati more times than he wanted, and you will find out why.
It’s a story that involves steam trains, inventions, the Underground Railroad from Cincinnati to Detroit, and what all that has to do with moonshine, VooDoo, and the mystery of bringing tobacco to Kentucky from Michigan where it can’t be grown . . .
Baba Teddy (Ted Jauw) is a keeper of ‘Hidden History’. Especially the kind that intersects with his love of the Underground railroad and the Railroads that we more commonly see in SteamPunk. Elijah McCoy figures front and center in his book ‘Teslation II’ but, here, he will present some things that won’t be found in the book and shared only with adults.
