Basic Sewing for the Steampunk

Posted on Posted in Presentations

The Steampunk Symposium 2022 Program invites to become a noob sewist in under an hour.

Presented by Martha Stephenson.

Learn the essentials of basic hand stitching, such as knotting your thread, threading your needle, doing running stitch and back stitch, and sewing a gear on it to call it steampunk!

Skills learned will allow for basic alteration such as replacing buttons, making garments a bit smaller, and sewing on all the trim. The less you know the better for this workshop. Attendees will make a little something to help them on their sewist way.

Martha Stephenson has been hand sewing since she was four-years-old and her grandma helped her sew a mouse with a really long tail. That was a long time ago.

She is a strong believer in the little sewist in us all and she wants to bring that out in you.
