Since the first year of the Symposium, the Steampunk Olympiad has been the central event and has become our primary fundraiser for charity partner NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) with donations to compete going straight to them.
This year, to aid us in our work, we are excited to announce that the Chicago Steampunk Exposition is the official sponsor of the Steampunk Olympiad! Each Olympiad event has one weekend badge to the Chicago Steampunk Exposition (Sept. 27th to 29th, 2019) as a prize for the winner.
Each challenge in the Olympiad wins points for competing airships, and some win prizes for the winner, but all earn you glory! This year the challenges are as follows:
- Air Deck Croquet
- Beard & Mustache Contest
- Bocce Ball
- Dirigible Races
- Faux Penny Farthing Races
- High Noon NERF Duel
- Iron Tailor
- Tea Dueling
- Teapot Racing
- Themed Game - The Wingardium Leviosa Challenge
- Writing Relay
Individual Contestants
Anyone may enter a Steampunk Olympiad contest by registering at the NAMI table near the arena. To enter an individual event, we ask that each registrant make a $5 (or more) charitable donation per event; this money is handled by and goes directly to our partner NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
Airship Registration
Those wanting to enter their Airship or group into the Olympiad need to report to Don Dodson and the Airship Registration table on the Upper Terrace during the Tea Stroll (Friday, 4pm to 6pm).
