Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky’s most elaborate Mardi Gras masquerade returned this Saturday for its fourth iteration. This year’s Voodoo Carnival saw the return of acts such as the Pickled Brothers Circus, who performed acts of juggling of various implements (some of a more dangerous nature than others), whip mastery, and their new sword swallowing act that had a surprise twist at the end. Other featured acts included contortionist Jeanette Martinez, tantalizing dances by Zahara’s Tangled Web Belly Dance troupe, the comic performances of Animal Circles and Goblin Road, as well as the return of Lord Spencington’s Boylesque, which according to the words of Lord Spencington himself, “may have even outdone last year’s performance.”

Attendees also had the opportunity to peruse such exquisite vendors such as Mayhem Market, Goblin Road, and the new Steampunk Empire Symposium Shoppe; in addition, face painting booths turned many guests from average viewers to macabre and intriguing visages.

The Pandora Society’s next big extravaganza will be the much anticipated Steampunk Empire Symposium’s Steam Wars on April 25th, 26th, and 27th featuring exciting events such as the Symposium Games (including NERF Dueling and Lightsaber Cricket), an incredible line up of workshops and panels, the much whispered about Anti-Temperance Hallway Revival (aka the party wing), the Steampunk Chronicles Readers’ Choice Awards Ceremony, and the Symposium Ball as well as appearances by special guests including two different Steampunk Boba Fetts who will be “capturing bounties” during the entire convention. Other guests include Jamie Follis of Sillof’s Workshop, author Cindy Spencer Pape, author Emilie P Bush, the Apparition Abolishers and many more.
