The Great New England Vampire Panic

Posted on Posted in Presentations

The Steampunk Symposium 2020 Program invites you to discover the East Coast’s buried history and the true story of America’s vampires.

Presented by M. Leigh Hood.

Before Dracula, a very different kind of vampire took America by storm. Layered in folklore, superstition, religious fervor, and a bloody plague, this is the true story of America’s very own vampire menace. Dig into history as we explore the ancient roots of vampiric lore and the elements that combined to create a truly morbid and often forgotten footnote in American history.

M. Leigh Hood is a rare beast of the Cincinnati wilderness. When not imbibing copious amounts of tea, adventuring abroad, or buried alive in a mountain of books, she works as a freelance writer and editor. She finds herself at home in the odd corners of the world and enjoys digging up old, frightening tales their progenitors would prefer we all forget.
