The Steampunk Symposium 2022 Program reflects upon how the Wild West has long been a subject of fascination for American artists.
Presented by Fiona Finnigan.
The Wild West has long been a subject of fascination for Americans and American artist. The rugged beauty if its landscapes and rough freedom of its inhabitants fascinated people living in the settled East. From the landscapes of the Hudson River School, to the portrait vases of Cincinnati’s own Rookwood Pottery, the Wild West inspired generations of American artists.
Fiona Finnigan received her Masters of History of Visual and Material Culture (that’s the history of stuff!) from Southern Illinois University in 2018.
She is particularly interested in Turn of the Century Decorative Arts and shiny things. In her free time she enjoys working on her steampunk gear and every kind of needle work know to man.
