Cinema Guano Goes West

The Steampunk Symposium 2020 Program takes a look at Weird Westerns from across the globe with the hosts of the Cinema Guano podcast

Presented by Greg Pizzino & Crysta Coburn.

The hosts of the Cinema Guano podcast discuss some weird westerns (from across the globe!), including The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., The Phantom Empire, anime Cannon Busters, and Korean film The Good, The Bad, The Weird.

Greg Pizzino is an author, performer, playwright, and podcaster, with degrees and certifications in literature and film making from Tulane University and the Motion Picture Institute of Michigan. He is the host and producer of the bizarre film podcast Cinema Guano, and his short fiction appears in the anthologies “Valves and Vixens Vol. 2” and “The Queen of Clocks and Other Steampunk Tales.” His most recent work, the full length musical “Benestopheles!: The Last Days of Ghoulita Graves” debuts in April, 2020.

Crysta Coburn has been fascinated by all things strange and unusual from a very young age, when she had her first encounter with a shadow being. For five years, she worked as a book-buyer for a metaphysical bookstore and now works part-time for a public library. She is no stranger to research or a well-constructed story. She is also a freelance journalist, author, editor, and podcaster. Two steampunk anthologies that she co-edited with Phoebe Darqueling make their debut spring 2020, “Cogs, Crowns, and Carriages” and “Gears, Ghouls, and Gauges.”
