Wonder Woman Deconstructed

While visiting Derby City Comic Con this last weekend, we were struck by a wonderfully attired Steampunk Wonder Woman exploring the show floor. Getting to know Abbie just a bit we learned that she has been tracking the process of constructing her cosplay via her blog, the Life and Times of a Geekgasmic Girl.

Starting just a couple of updates back, you can track her progress in reverse for a very interesting read as she explains where she gathered the pieces she used and how the construction process went for her.

It’s always interesting to see how creative costumes come together. If you’ve detailed one of your creations in the world of Steampunk, feel free to e-mail us and we’ll see if we can’t get you featured on the site too!

Steampunk at the Derby

We had a great time promoting the Symposium, Pandoracon and the Midsummer Masquerade at Derby City Comic Con over the course of last weekend. During that time we would eventually purchase that convention adding a new show to our event lineup for 2013. Along the way, we were able to chat with a large number of fans and reaction, especially when discussing the Symposium, was quite strong. It was also great getting to say hello to Pandoracon guest Billy Tackett.

Aloysius Fox journeyed on to Ba-Con where he was able to chat face to face with Pandoracon guests Jeff Carlisle and Jason Carter and further promote each of our shows. It was a busy weekend, but the exposure each show received was worth the effort.

Over on our Charlie Tonic Hour site, Ginny Tonic does a great job looking back on the Derby City Comic Con show sharing a few photos and commentary on the event. We’re making a point this year to get out and meet with new audiences, new shows and spread the word about the Steampunk Empire Symposium. We have even bigger plans for our second year 2013 show (taking place April 26-28, 2013) and as soon as those details are finalized, we’ll be back with more updates intermixed with all the other stories we’re sharing here throughout the year.

Weird Al Goes Steampunk?

This is not a photoshop but an actual promo for Weird Al Yankovic‘s latest Alpocalypse Tour on Ticketmaster’s site. Thanks to Symposium ally and Pickel Brothers Circus own Travis Fessler for pointing us to the image.
