Get Started in Teapot Racing

April 28 @ 3:00 pm

Come learn the origins of Splendid Teapot Racing and what it takes to participate.

Topics will include the rules and basics of building a racer that will carry your banner to glory. How one handles the resulting fame will be determined entirely by the character of the participant.

Stephen Lee Chapman is a passionate maker. His creativity led him to become an engineer and spilled over into racing cars and subsequently building and fighting combat robots. His current and most rewarding passion has been the making of steampunk props and the sharing of related techniques, finishes, and methods. His steampunk YouTube channel under the name “enganear”, has received over 3 million views and has over two thousand subscribers.

In 2013 he joined Hatton Cross Steampunk, a group of like minded makers and writers. In 2014 he published his first book, The Stonehenge Rift, a rollicking, gadget-heavy, sci-fi, steampunk adventure novel. Many of the props he has created come to life in this book, the first volume of The Company Chronicles. The second volume, The Mines of Mina, should be finished in 2018.
Stephen has also been instrumental in bringing the zany New Zealand sport of Splendid Teapot Racing to the USA.

Stephen Lee Chapman lives in North Carolina with his artist wife and a cat named Catman.
