David Lee is the principal artist at Hatton Cross Steampunk, located in Gloucester Virginia. His art has been featured in numerous exhibits at Steampunk conventions, festivals and art galleries throughout the US, Europe and New Zealand. He has received multiple nominations and awards for his costuming, props and vehicles. In January 2018 he signed with VIP Productions to start a Reality TV Maker show titled HCS Creates. A highlight for David has been to play the Steampunk Darth Vader in “Trial of the Mask” and “Mask of Vengeance”, two Steampunk Star Wars fan films from Unruly Mile Films. He has also played a supporting role in the TV series (in production) Paradox City.
David is most recognized for his large props and his Steampunk vehicles. In July of 2013 he founded HCS Publishing, a non-profit publishing house dedicated to publishing high quality, great stories where the reader is first and the author second. He is a published author with his Steampunk western novel entitled Country in Ruin:1865, a novella entitled “The Tale of Harlesden Chessington” and a short story in the HCS anthology Steam & Steel: Thirteen Riveting Tales. David is a contributing “DIY” author for the Steampunk Chronicle and has been featured in three books about Steampunk fashion and costuming as well as the 2014 summer edition of Victorian Homes.
What started out as a guy building a couple of gadgets in his garage has grown into a world-wide presence in the Steampunk and Cosplay scenes. It was belly dance that introduced us to Steampunk and a novel by author JM Lee that took us to conventions. Since that time, we’ve been to conventions throughout the US, Europe and even New Zealand. We build props, costuming, armor and vehicles designed to wow and amaze you as well as to amuse your inner 5 year old. My name is Dave Lee, we are Hatton Cross Steampunk and THIS… is HCS Creates.”
